SEE & DO

Capella's Light Horse Artwork a must see

There’s plenty to see and do in and around Capella.

It’s a top spot to base yourself while exploring the Central Highlands or working in the region.

There is the spectacular Peak Range which creates a dramatic backdrop to Capella.

Not to be missed is the magnificent Light Horse Artwork memorial, a moving reminder of these elite, mounted soldiers.

As legend has it, Capella was where these heroic troopers first picked up an emu plume and popped it in their slouch hats.

Enjoy day trips and adventures for a fish at Lake Maraboon (Queensland’s second largest lake), fossicking through the fascinating Sapphire Gemfields or exploring the stunning nearby national parks.

After a hot Central Queensland day, there's nothing like a relaxing dip in the Dooley's private pool, or the more energetic can walk a few minutes down to rip down the waterslide or do laps at the Capella Olympic Pool and Aquatic Centre.
